Monaco Grand Prix Betting Tips

This weekend’s Monaco Grand Prix is one of the most highly anticipated races in the Formula 1 calendar. The unique streets of Monte Carlo provide a thrilling challenge for drivers, and this year’s event is shaping up to be one of the most exciting in recent years.

Betting Picks

Our top betting pick for the Monaco Grand Prix is George Russell to win at 18/1 (bet365 1/5 1,2,3). Russell has had a strong start to the season, with four podiums in seven races, and has shown his ability to extract one-lap pace from his car. With the Mercedes performing well in cooler temperatures, and poor weather forecast for this weekend, Russell is a great value bet.

We’re also backing a red flag in the race at 6/4 (bet365, Sky Bet). The tight nature of the track and the requirement to run all three tyre compounds make it highly likely that we’ll see a red flag at some point during the race.

Race Preview

Monaco has a reputation for delivering underwhelming Sundays in recent years, but the FIA’s introduction of mandatory usage of three tyre compounds is set to spice up race strategies. Qualifying is always the most thrilling part of the weekend in Monaco, and this year’s event is shaping up to be one of the most competitive in years.

The formbook can often be thrown out the window in Monaco, with the unique track characteristics making it difficult for teams to predict how their cars will perform. However, some teams are looking stronger than others, and we’re happy to oppose McLaren this weekend given their struggles on Saturdays.

Opposing the Favorites

Max Verstappen has two wins around the Monaco circuit, but his short price of 3/1 makes him unappealing. Until we see that the Red Bull has addressed its issues with street tracks, we’re steering clear of Verstappen.

Charles Leclerc finally got his maiden home victory at Monaco last year, but there are more negatives than positives for the Ferrari driver this year. His record around the track is phenomenal, but fundamental problems with the Ferrari’s single-lap performance make him a less appealing bet.

George Russell’s Chances

George Russell is our top pick for the Monaco Grand Prix. He’s had a positive and consistent start to the season, with four podiums in seven races, and has shown his ability to extract one-lap pace from his car. His form on street tracks is also impressive, with a win in Las Vegas last season and a strong performance in Singapore.

Red Flag Warning

The frequency of red flags in F1 has increased in recent years, and Monaco is a prime example. The tight nature of the track and the requirement to run all three tyre compounds make it highly likely that we’ll see a red flag at some point during the race. With poor weather forecast and the potential for multiple cars to pit at the end of lap one, the odds of a red flag are higher than usual.

Conclusion

In conclusion, the Monaco Grand Prix is shaping up to be one of the most exciting races of the season. With George Russell offering great value at 18/1 and a red flag highly likely, there are plenty of betting opportunities to take advantage of. Remember to always bet responsibly and within your means.
